Abstract

Port cities are spatio-political systems located in the spaces between the two geographical realms of water and land, and their doors are open to the free world. In fact, because these cities are the bridge between the coastal state and the global economic system and in many countries are the beating heart of the national economy and trade, more than other cities located far from the coast for independent political units on the map the world's political are important and should be given more and more attention by political geographers. In many developed countries, port cities are densely populated areas and sometimes they are elevated to a world city position. London and new york, as global cities, are located near their ports and are considered port cities. Political management of space in port cities varies depending on the type of government system of countries and the intense control and concentration of political management in the center, such as iran; to port-autonomous capital cities, such as argentina; is different. In this fundamental research, by clarifying the geopolitical importance of port cities, a philosophical-conceptual explanation of the political geography of port cities as a sub-branch of the thematic spectrum between the political geography of ports and the political geography of the city is attempted.
