Abstract

Border cities face unique challenges in terms of security and development due to their specific geographical location. Kamyaran city, as one of the border cities of Iran, is no exception to this rule. The present study aims to identify and analyze the main obstacles that affect the security and development of Kamyaran city. This research was conducted with an applied approach using a descriptive-analytical method and collecting the opinions of 30 urban experts through the Delphi method. The research findings showed that interpretive structural modeling (ISM) and MicMac software were used for an in-depth analysis of 18 identified obstacles in the field of security and development obstacles in the border city of Kamyaran to determine the relationship between these obstacles and their impact on security and development in the border city of Kamyaran. The results of the study showed that obstacles to smuggling of goods and drugs, unemployment and poverty, and shared border resources are among the most influential obstacles to migration, and lack of public access is among the most influential factors in implementing security and development in the border city of Kamyaran. Also, using the MicMac software, it was determined that 17 of the 18 identified obstacles, as linked variables, play a key role in creating complex and intertwined obstacles to implementing security and development in the border city of Kamyaran. They have high influence and dependency and require special attention from Kamyaran city officials.
