Abstract

In recent years, the concept of smart urbanization has become a central focus for achieving sustainable development in cities. As technology continues to evolve and urbanization rates increase, the integration of smart technologies into urban planning has become a necessity. This research aims to evaluate the role of urban management in fostering smart city components, focusing on the Bu Ali Pedestrian Walkway in Hamedan, a central area with high historical and cultural significance. The study employs a descriptive-analytical approach, using survey methods to collect data from urban management and smart city experts. A total of 30 experts were selected using purposive and snowball sampling techniques. Data were analyzed through SPSS software using one-sample t-tests and Friedman tests to assess the impact of management on the smart components of the pedestrian walkway. The results show that while urban management has had a positive impact on smart life, smart people, and smart transportation, the governance and environmental components need further attention. The findings suggest that smart urban practices in Hamedan, particularly in Bu Ali Pedestrian Walkway, have made considerable progress but require more efforts in governance and environmental sustainability to achieve a fully integrated smart city.
