The site selection for a new cemetery within the peri-urban area of Bojnord necessitates a rigorous evaluation of environmental and locational conditions. In this regard, the nature of Bojnord's urban development and its surrounding natural constraints were first considered to establish a comprehensive analytical framework. Based on previous applied studies and current sanitary regulations, research indicators were standardized and integrated using a Geographic Information System (GIS). The influential evaluation indicators were classified into two categories: "Locational Indicators" (distance from the city, prevailing wind direction, accessibility, land use, and urban growth direction) and "Site Indicators" (soil texture and mechanics, surface water, future development, groundwater depth, and geology), all of which were analyzed as spatial data layers. The integration of these layers enabled the identification of suitable zones across five main categories. Also, the results obtained from equal weighting and the AHP method were compared, indicating an improvement in the accuracy and spatial coherence of the zoning results using the AHP method. Accordingly, 14.9%, 32.28%, 24.72%, 21.66%, and 6.44% of the studied lands fall into the "Excellent" (Highly Suitable), "Suitable," "Acceptable," "Low Suitability," and "Unsuitable" zones, respectively. Within this zoning, the northern and northeastern sectors were found to merit further investigation for cemetery placement, considering "future urban growth" and "prevailing wind direction." This classification assists decision-makers in comparing the capabilities of each zone, not only from a technical standpoint but also in terms of environmental and developmental implications. The primary achievement of this research is the production of a spatial zoning map; a tool that serves as a practical foundation for urban managers to guide the selection process of optimal lands for the Eternal Settlement or the city's new cemetery.
